As we celebrate 20 great works of God in this, our 20th year, we are sincerely grateful for how each of you has stewarded the resources and time He has entrusted you with to advance the life-changing hope of the gospel in our community and beyond. Read our 2019 Year in Review to get a glimpse of what the Lord has accomplished through His people at Watermark.
Every single dollar stewarded at Watermark is part of the “missions budget,” strategically deployed to advance God’s mission here and around the world. We don't “pass the plate” but that’s not because there isn’t great need. In fact, we have more opportunities than resources at any given time. Rather, we believe this is the best way to facilitate joyful giving (2 Corinthians 9:7, Matthew 6:4). Let us all prayerfully consider how we might continue to invest in this mission with our hearts and God’s possessions.
You can give online using the button below. ACH (checking account) is our highly preferred method of payment because it saves us money on fees, allowing the maximum dollars possible to go directly to ministry use. To give with ACH, you will enter an account and routing number.
Note: Debit cards are now a payment option as well. Credit cards are still not an available method.
Rather than pass a collection plate during weekend services, we encourage members of our body to give as the Lord leads them by placing their gifts in boxes near the entrances and exits.
Gifts can be sent by mail or dropped off at the Watermark offices:
Watermark Community Church, Contributions, 7540 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75251
If you have participated with us financially this year, you can expect to receive an email acknowledgement of your contributions no later than January 31, 2019. If you have changed your physical address or email address in the past year, please let us know at email@example.com.
Stock or other assets may be donated to Watermark Community Church. Please notify Jennifer Bundren if you wish to donate stock or other assets. Stock may be donated to Watermark by transferring investments to our account at Fidelity Investments. Please notify Jennifer of any pending transfers so that we can be aware of any activity and handle it properly.
Give to Watermark Online
All contributions to Watermark are applied to the General Fund unless they are designated to another fund.
If you are choosing to make a gift, your gifts can be designated to the General Fund, which supports the day-to-day ministries and church support services, to the Building Fund, which supports building and development opportunities across all of our campuses, or to one of our Local or International Initiatives.
You will notice in our giving options that you can choose a general fund based on which campus you attend. We use the campus information for reporting purposes, but the final decision about the allocation of all general funds rests with the Elders and other campus leaders as they prayerfully seek God's direction in how to direct God's resources invested at Watermark.
To find out more about our Local and International Initiatives and to give online, please visit the pages below.
Gifts that are not labeled will be accounted for as a gift applied towards the General Fund.
To give toward an international outreach/discipleship trip led by Watermark, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also contact the individual requesting support for further instructions.
"Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
- 2 Corinthians 9:7
We believe the giving of our firstfruits is an act of worship, a way that honors God (Proverbs 3:9) while also living mindfully that ALL we own, not just what we give is the Lord's (Psalm 24:1). God is a giver of eternal gifts (John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 2:12) and temporal (Deuteronomy 8:17-18, James 1:17) and when a follower of Christ freely and joyfully gives away their increase, whether it be money, possessions, time, or talents, they are imitating God. We are excited about your desire to give, not only because of how your gift will allow us to continue to be about our mission of being and making disciples, but also because of what your gift prayerfully communicates to the world about your heart and relationship with God (2 Corinthians 9:12-15) and how investing wisely benefits you (Acts 20:35, Luke 12:33).

Every dollar we spend advances God’s mission here and around the world. More than $1.1 million is shared with local and international ministry partners to support causes like family restoration, anti-sex trafficking, healthcare, education, mentoring, prison ministry, life initiatives, and more. In addition, the Watermark body contributed $1.2 million to support international discipleship trips as well as external ministry partners through “Designated Giving” funds which support causes such as orphan care, disaster relief, our urgent care clinics, and more.
• 84% goes directly to Kingdom work, including all midweek and weekend ministries; our ministry partners (local and international); conferences and other strategic investments in churches locally and around the world; and our staff.
• 16% of our budget goes toward operating, maintaining, and developing the facilities at our four campuses, which are used all throughout the week.
Each ministry builds its budget from zero every year, evaluating what we should keep doing, start doing, and stop doing. Each new budget is reviewed at three levels: 1) our internal Finance Team; 2) our lay-led Business Advisory Team, which provides leadership through our budget planning and execution; and 3) our Elders, who ultimately approve the budget. We have processes that track every dollar in and out of Watermark, with monthly reporting for each department. Our financial statements are audited by an outside firm annually to ensure accuracy and accountability.
It’s not because there isn’t a need. We believe this is the best way to facilitate joyful giving (2 Corinthians 9:7, Matthew 6:4). Anyone can send checks by mail, give online, or place gifts in the giving boxes across our campuses. About 25% of our annual giving comes in during the month of December.
Our overall budget grew by 6% from last year. Watermark’s attendance has grown by an average of 10% annually. The only way our budget is maintained or can increase is through the generous giving of our body. We continually look for ways to use funds more effectively, cutting budgets where cost-saving opportunities are found. If additional staff seems necessary to support growth, there is a rigorous process to vet all requests before they are approved. Our actual spending has consistently been less than budgeted. Any extra funds are put toward reserves and other strategic priorities.
Given that our economy cycles over time and we could be impacted in a downturn, we see wisdom in maintaining some reserves for the unknown. In accordance with the direction of our Business Advisory Team, we target setting aside funds to cover three months of operating expenses, along with a reserve account to fund repairs as needed to our facilities.
These projects cannot begin until the necessary resources are provided by our body.
We regularly meet with Members to discuss our budget and answer questions. Please email email@example.com to set up a meeting.
